We hold Harvest of Thanksgiving Sundays on the 3rd Sunday of every month. The congregation is invited to bring nonperishable food items (or paper goods) to the altar prior to the service.
All items are then donated to our local Carson Valley Community Food Closet.

Our Community Needs fund is there to provide assistance to our Douglas County community members in the following areas: Rent, utility bills, propane needs, gas money & bus money. At the start of 2026, our Love Your Neighbor dinner raised $2335 for this fund. You can always support this fund by making a donation and labeling it community needs or giving on Communion Sunday at side offertory plates.

In the last 5 years, the CVUMC has created a tradition of reaching out to churches who are located in a community that has been struck by tragedy. Most recently we raised donations for a church in Greenville California. The church had been badly burned by the Dixie Fire in October of 2021.

The United Women in Faith also actively support several other groups locally, nationally and internationally. Click here to visit their page to learn more!

Join us every week as we laugh, sing and pray together with residents at our local convalescent care center in Gardnerville. We sing traditional hymns and read from the Upper Room. Currently we visit residents at Salterra on Kimmerling in Gardnerville on Tuesday mornings.
Please join us! Contact the front office
if you are interested.

Every few weeks we hand out $10 bags of quarters at 2 local laundromats in the Carson Valley. In 2025 we distributed 76 bags of quarters for a total of $760. If you are interested in donating to this ministry, please drop off your quarters at the main table in the lobby. You will see the basket labeled. Thank you!

In August the CVUMC collects a huge amount of school supplies for our local school children & teens. Supplies are collected for families in the Douglas County School District who need assistance providing all those notebooks, pens, backpacks etc.

The CVUMC also has an active prayer shawl ministry. Shawls receive prayers from Pastor Latu and the congregation, and then are distributed in our community to those who need healing. Interested in knitting a shawl to donate?
